Some traits that a women may contain within that would make them formidable is bossy. Bossy isn't always a good thing but if someone seems to be bossy they aren't afraid to be mean to the a job done. Women in today's world tend to take control of many things. In many class projects I am involved with girls are the ones who tend to take the lead. So because many women tend to do this, it could be one of the reasons why they seen more formidable. Women however feel as if they need to be like this otherwise they get walked over.

You are correct bossy is not always a bad characteristic, however, many women are still scared to be called bossy. I have had different experiences than yours because I noticed how many girls, to this date, are still afraid of taking control. Which in my opinion is sad because us women have fought for so much and we cannot give up. I wish there were more CEO women.
